Fra Krigsseilerregisteret (The National Archives, Kew, HS 9/723/6): "He journeyed to Hamburg via Kr. sund. S. and Denmark but on arrival found that the boat had been released. Whilst he was in Hamburg the Norwegian invasion took place and he was interned in the prison in Hamburg. He was there for six months and complained that it was a bad place and they had bad food".
